The Ephesus beach today, was once the commercial harbor of the Ancient city of Ephesus. The original situation of the Ancient Ephesus city was established on the Aegean coast, on the plain of Kucuk Menderes river, which today is located 8 km. away from the archaeological excavations, and is called as the Ephesus Beach.

The city of Ephesus was the most important center of Anatolia, mainly because of this harbor with its important trade links. But during centuries, the allusions of the river filled up the sea, and the harbor lost its importance by getting un useful over years. In Roman times, the city moved to the slopes of Bulbul mountain( where you can visit the well-remained ruins) , leaving a fertail plain behind.
